Project Waymo, formally known as Project Mars, was completed in June of 2022; a 9-acre autonomous trucking campus for Waymo, a subsidiary of Google’s parent company, Alphabet, Inc. The facility is the first in the country within the expanding autonomous commercial trucking industry. Located in Lancaster, Texas, the compound acts as a central launching point for the company’s southwest operations with 10 truck bays, diesel fueling stations, six EV charging stations and 36 workstations. The project brings more than 100 jobs to the area with the big rigs navigating commercial routes on Interstate 10, Interstate 20 and Interstate 45.
